Please let me use this venue to say a heartfelt Thank you to all who e-mailed me, or left a verbal kindness on the comment column following my recent heart attack. I appreciate that so much.
To those who have asked, I am doing well, back to work and although I am not moving fast, Praise the Lord I am moving.
I am blessed, and every morning when I take that first breath and realize I am still above ground, I say a Thank you to the one who has kept me there.
There are so many people who kept me going when that was not at all what I wanted to do. They know who they are and also that they are a blessing.
Keeping the drive open, and the cats fed, and getting the groceries until I was able to drive, these are the little things we take for granted until one does not have the energy to do those things.
Thank you to all my unsung heroes. I love each and everyone of you.

I guess being on the computer is more fun than trimming my toenails. The posts of the last few dayz have been good, and very humorous. I have not been my normal sweet self, and I am sorry as I do not like to be mean spirited. (Decrease in humility here.)
When saturated with stupidity, one does have to just "go for it". Seeing good people and their families, whom are not known, made light of is not where it is at for me.
OK, so I will get the same response, as " 4 the crossword", just do not have any statistic's. I think he made a good point, taking it to the limit.
Seems like several of the "old" posters are MIA, and I would like to see them again. Come out come out wherever thou art.
Not much new at the Kottage, well the oldest cat is trying to cough up a hairball, which around here is not all that exciting.
Trying to do the introduction for my book, and yes I really am writing a book, despite being called a liar. I am going to do it on cemeteries in Huron County, looking for the old and ones with a history to tell. Just waiting for the weather to co-operate so that I can tromp around, and look for the story the headstones tell.
Hope that all have a great day, and enjoy the long awaited sunshine.

This has been a day and a half here at the Kottage. Good news the income tax came, as the car went to Norb's. hoping for a quick fix, and Mr. Magic (as he is fondly referred to) does his thing.
Off to Sandusky to shop, new keyboard and mouse, and hopefully this will solve sosme of the problems I have been having. The keyboard its very small and needs getting used to.
Off to Borders from Radio shack, ahhhh this is dangerous territory for the prolific reader. Did find the complete works of Sir Conan Doyle in paperback for 15.00, had a Borders gift card, wasn't sure of the amopunt left on it, to my suprise quite a bit. That was a good experience, now I can sit and read my precious purchases. what a happy camper I am.
Just getting used to the keyboard and wanting to wish all a safe and happy weekend.
Blessings from the Kottage.

Good Morning and as a new week starts here at the Kottage I am looking forward to sunshine (oops not today), and lollipops, as Leslie Gore would say, for those of you oldies who can remember those good old rock N roll songs.
I was watching TV at work, just one of the perks, and saw an ad for all these oldies for sale in one package. Bobby Goldsboro was one of the commentators, he has definitely gotten better with age. Good collection, not for $100.00. I am much too frugal for that. Did enjoy listening to the snippets of the old songs I enjoyed "back in the day".
The car remains in the drive as " Mr. Magic" has no room for her. I am going to be getting rides to work, and all have been great to help.
The katz are sleeping and the quiet is just so nice.
Just not sure what I want to do on this rainy day, will think of something.
Cooking sounds like it is in the game plan somewhere.
Have a friend who is Doing the Susan G. Komen "walk for the cure' she is trying to raise $$ for that so if ya see a can or a flyer for a bake sale please, help in some way.
Her name is Bobbie Jo Lindenberger, and any help you can give her would be gratefully appreciated. You can give on line. Bake Sale April 10, at Gardner's, and April 23, at Bob Evans. There will be an auction and will provide details as I have them. Cancer has touched all of us in some form and the fight for a cure is always a worthy cause.
Wish I had some excitement to share, and will try to create some for future musings.
Blessings to all and think pink for the cure.

Good Morning,
Being an avid reader, 2-3 books a week, I thought I would muse on some of the excellent reads I have encountered.
Not to start a political debate, just to give my opinion of some books. Sarah Palin's "Going Rouge" was a good read and give a far different side of the campaign. It is well written and down to earth, as I found her to be. I did read with an open mind.
Alas. I have started on my "classic" for the summer, as growing up we had to read one. I have chosen the complete works of Sir Conan Doyle, whom I am sure you know as the author of "Sherlock Holmes". It is going to take me all summer to read it, and I am learning quite a bit I did not know. Mysteries are my favorite genre, and this is a challenge.
I also found a book by Ellen Fitzpatrick " Letters to Jackie: Condolences from a Grieving Nation. These are a brief smattering of the letters of condolence written to Mrs. Kennedy following the assassination of JFK. The letters were long buried at the JFK library, and Ms.
Fitzpatrick and a score of researchers took on the daunting task of sifting through them and choosing 250 for publication. They contacted each letter writer or their family to request permission to publish, and only 5 people declined. There is a brief biography of each letter writer, which I found fascinating after so many years. Brings them to life for the reader. I as always will be glad to share my books with anyone, and if you would like to read one please e-mail me for the list. I have several that would not be found in the library as they are out of print, or not what one might include in the local library. Not offensive, just quick read mysteries, or autobiographies of those long forgotten.
We get busy at our computers and reading a book and writing a letter have become lost arts. Several people have wondered why I have not purchased an electronic reader, well I still like to curl up in my favorite chair and open a book and let the world go by as I read. Have read many people say " I don't like to read" well, that is fine. To those who do, please continue.
Please visit the local library, you will find it a treasure chest of information, and an unending source of pleasure.
I visited the Sandusky Library yesterday with a friend, and WOW, that was an experience, it is huge and even has a gift shop, and a coffee nook. Found being followed by the security guard a little unnerving, however chatted with her and guess she decided we were not the "great novel thieves"
Wish all pages of pleasure.

Good Morning,
Just got here from the Comments Column, and as usual the beat goes on.
I really do not like to compare the NR to the SR, however the difference in the comments is obvious. The Moderators have things under control over there, and it is refreshing to see. When posting the "balderdash" is minimal, and the controversy handled in a somewhat diplomatic manner. Old threads are not left up forever, and it is a wee bit more civil. The use of Trolls is not permitted, and when and if they appear, dealt with usually by the commentators themselves.
Moving on, Mr. Centers has a Forum topic on Daylight Savings time, and I hope that some input will be posted. Not a biggie for me as I have said, and it is nice to have longer daylight hours, the kids can be outside longer and those who work a day shift can do their yard work or whatever with the longer daylight hours. Have to give some thought to having that all year. Having lived in Maine, where it got dark at 4 pm, was difficult for this old Buckeye. Although the cold was not as bitter as it is here, the temperature of the Ocean is not that of the lake, thus a milder winter.
The Musings of tomorrow will be on cats, and I am sure to get a response out of that one. Look forward to giving what will be perceived as too much information about the "kats" here at the Kottage.
Maudie my wonder Buick is at the hospital, she has some intestinal thing and Dr. Simon is making a diagnosis of the problem. Looking forward to having the old gal back and she has been faithful, and gotten me around, not having a car for 4 months was difficult, and I did not realize how much I depended on one.
I enjoy sharing my days with those who have the stamina to read the ramblings of an old lady. My life is not exciting, nor do I wish to be chastised for sharing. I will continue, as a writer.
Have a great day and blessings to all.

Hello,
I wanted to give a little insight to the cats at the Kottage. They are all sleeping and their input will not be forthcoming.
First and foremost, I am a responsible cat owner, all the cats mentioned have been neutered and for the sake of my furniture declawed. They are four in number, and all are rescued. Two are "special needs kitties" due to the abuse or neglect they have suffered. One is elderly, and like the rest of us suffers from the infirmities of age.
I will give a brief synopsis of each. They are very gracious and allow me to live in "their house and pay the bills. They require only food and love, and give that love unconditionally in return. A lesson we could learn from animals.
Missy is the "Granny" cat, she will be 13 this month and when I got her she had been at the Humane Society for 16 months. She is a Tuxedo, very gentle and we had planned to grow old together, and are doing that. Two years ago she lost her constant companion, my beloved Mollie, cats mourn, and as the two of them were never apart, she does that today.
Marvin Gaye, also a Tuxedo, and just the "thinker" in the crowd. He is very selective about who he approaches, and very few guests to my home have seen him, as he hides when they are here. He is the one who will just sit and watch from a perch, and plays with the younger cats to the point of distraction. Got him as a kitten, he was nothing but fur and bone, and weighed just 2 pounds at 3 months old. He has since gotten handle on growth and he is a big boy.
Mora Lucille, the gentle lady, she was abused by an 80 yr. old woman, and locked in a bathroom. She is the skittish one, and socializing her has been a long process. I would like to see her go to a home where 1:1 is possible. She loves to have her tummy rubbed, and is quiet. She looks like a feline Dachshund, as she has very short legs and a short fat tail. Just such a wonderful little lady.
Malachi Levi, He is the official greeter. Found in my driveway last June, he was starving, and sick. He is going to be one year old on 4/2/10, planning his birthday party. Oh, forgot to mention he is HUGE, and a constant source of entertainment. He is the more vocal and when the others are sleeping, and he does not have anyone to play with, he buggs his "MoM'.
If you are not a cat lover, I am sure that this was quite boring for you. If you are then you know the joys of feline ownership.
Having been alone for many years, they are companionship, and it is nice to come home to them after work. Even though they greet me because they think they are starving, definatly is not the case.
They all have distinct personalities, and are loved for them.
Hope that if you are thinking about getting a pet you will go to the Humane Society for that, so many unwanted and abused animals are there, and having found out that an older cat is a good pick. If you are not in the market for a pet, please find it in your heart to donate. Our Humane Society is a "no kill", and they have a wish list that is avaiable to all. I thank you for considering adopting or donating.
The gang here at the Kottage thanks you also.
Missy, Marvin Gaye, Mora Lucille, and Malachi Levi
say have a Purrrrrrfect day.
The Health care Bill has passed. Good or bad we are stuck with it. Not sure what it is, and by the time I figure it out I will be on Medicare.
Someone on the Comments column asked me why I am a Republican, cause my Grandpa said "I was born one and I was going to die one.", I have studied and read what the alternatives have to offer, and it is not something I would choose. We all have personal choices in life, the whys and wherefores are simply that personal. I have always been open to debate on issues, I will respectfully listen to those who have opposing views, and sometimes I may even agree with some points. I will not jam what I believe down any one's throat, nor do I have to be nasty, or malicious in expressing my views.
I do not watch TV, I am part of the 21st Century, have a TV in my house, it is a personal view, and a financial conservative choice not to watch that. Telling me that because I can afford the Internet, and choose not to waste my money on cable or a dish, I need to budget my money more closely is invading my space, imposing your personal choices on me, and not respecting mine. That is the ideology of the goverment, forcing me to have health insurance, and penalizing those who choose not to have that, or simply through no fault of their own cannot afford it. It is the "Fathers" in Washington that know best.
I have never been apprised of the cost of this wonderful health care, and the "low income" families that make under $ 88, 000.00 will get a break. Still does not tell me what it is going to cost me. And to budget my meager pennies effectively, I would like to know.
This is my opinion, and mine alone. I still believe that is allowed, for how long I am not sure. At the rate the goverment is imposing sanctions on my lifestyle, perhaps that soon will be removed also.
I once read a poster that said:
You are you, and I am I. I am not in this world to live up to your expectations, and you are not in the world to live up to mine. You do your thing and I will do mine. And if by chance we find each other it is beautiful.
Because I do not like the politic's of the present administration, please do not call me a racist. When I start voting a man into an office for which he is ill prepared based on his ethnicity then I have shown myself to be biased by race. Which I am not, if you can do the job, and are qualified for that, and after much study I feel you are, then and only then will you get my vote.
GOD BLESS AMERICA.
Good Morning,
Just sat down with a cup of coffee, going to talk about that for a minute or two. I love coffee, nothing better than a cup of coffee, and a friend to share that with. So I am sharing with you.
Have learned a few things over the years of my coffee drinking.
1) I like GOOD coffee preferably fresh ground from beans.
2) One of my favorites is Caribou Coffee, the closest is in Avon at the Commons. If you are up that way, give it a try. Not all that crazy about Starbucks. Seattle's Best is good. Dunkin Doughnuts also good. Walmarts Rain Forrest Alliance any blend is good for the price.
3) I always make my coffee with filtered water, those who live in Norwalk, know why. The chlorhine taste makes the coffee bitter, and once you have filtered the water you will taste the difference.
Of course, one can not dispute the fact that Sheri's has the best gourmet coffee, and for a treat it is the place to go, not only for the coffee, for gathering with friends. The ambiance is also a plus. A relaxed atmosphere, and good friendly service. Pricey, perhaps, we all have to treat ourselves now and then, don't we??????
Thought about starting a Baby Boomers Java Group at Sheri's, like the old "geezers" that meet at Berry's, oops I am quickly becoming one of those old geezers. It still sounds like a good idea. So, for all of you geezer or not, let's zip off to Sheri's and have a cuppa, and share good coffee and good friends. Just can't beat that on a rainy day.
Enjoy.

Nothing like a good cup of java! We drink the 8'o clock bean, it's like 8 bucks a bag at da wal-mart.
And yes, I've been over a few times and have yet met the ever elusive cat. Maliki on the other hand love that critter he has a great personality!
Oh yeah, still waiting to hear from the mechanic.
PEACE!!!
That is a quote from the late Rev. Garcia, as he spoke at the funeral for my former husbands Grandmother. I was young at the time and really did not give it much thought.
Today it is ever present in my mind. Having lost so many who were loved and cherished. Their loss is always with me.
The list grows longer with each glance at the Obituaries.
Today, I was saddened to learn of the death of Barbara Bowen Plummer, for those of you old enough to remember, she was "Miss Barbara" of Romper room. We all said Romper Bomper Stomper dooo, I see all my friends. Barbara grew up in Norwalk, and never forgot her roots. Her Mother lived on W. Main St. and through a quirk of fate, I was blessed to work for both of them. Barbara hired me to check on her Mom as I lived across the street from her mother at the time. Both were wonderful to me, and I found out that my childhood heroine was "just folks" like everyone else. As I sent off a letter of condolence to her family, and recounted some of the memories I had of the time spent taking care of Mrs. Bowen, it was good to be able to share those fond memories.
I used to laugh at my Grandpa, with his Scottish brogue, he would tell me that as I got too soon old, my friends would leave me, and to store the memories in the "scrapbook" of my heart, as I would need them, and they might be all I had someday. Ah, Bompi, how right you are.
I can only hope that if you have family members that have a story to tell that you will listen, and take notes or use a voice recorder to save the history. I did not, and the scrapbook of my heart while it as many memories, some I have lost, and that is why I write down what I do remember.
Missed moments, as I become busy, no longer will I let those pass, I will grab them like a brass ring and hang on. Visiting friends I have not seen for some time. Reconnecting with people who are dear to me.
Share those special memories with your children, tell them about family as this is their history, and someday, maybe not today, will be grateful you did that.
Just the Musings of an old lady, with no one to share the memories with. I have written them down in the hopes that someday, they will have meaning to those I once called family.

Good Morning from the Kottage,
Things have been a little crazy here, as I have changed Agencies to keep my CLIENT, and although starting a "new" job with the same client is not all that different, still have lots to learn.
I have to comment as on another thread someone commented about surveillance cameras. The parent of my client installed one to observe the nurses as they worked with her son, spying or good parenting?? I applaud her for doing that, not only for his protection, it is for the protection of the nurses. Any question that would come into play about our job performance would be easily answered by watching the tapes.
The legality of this has often been in question, and it is perfectly legal and the parties being observed do not have to be party to that information. Audio is also legal in the State of Ohio.
While some would have a problem with being "on camera", I do not and welcome the parent doing that. Any parent with a question or concern about the care their child is receiving in their absence would be well within their rights to assure that said child is being cared for and safe.
My thinking is do your job, and the camera becomes a "non" issue. To be intimidated by that, lends me to question what one has to hide.
As this mother works in Cleveland, and works 10 hours a day, then drives an hour back and forth, she needs to know what is going on in her home with her son.
Thank you Mom for being a concerned and caring parent and wanting the best care for your son.
SMILE YOUR ON CANDID CAMERA.
Have a wonderful and blessed day to all.

Good Afternoon,
I have notified the Reflector about the 35 plus topics that are SPAM. Mr. Russell was very sympathetic, and assured me that this problem would be taken care of.
This lends me to believe that these Spam articles, and to content of some of the others on the Forum are not being monitored closely, and should be.
Some very good articles worthy of comment are buried in this mess of Spam and have to be searched for to comment. This lends me to wonder if the NR has any kind of monitoring system in place??? Or is the vulgar and obscene allowed to run rampant, to those who test the system, you have passed with flying colours, as anything goes here.
The need for an "abuse button" is a moot point as on the Comment column where they do have one, and you complain, they tell the person you complained about who placed the complaint, so why bother. It is just as useless as some of the comments.
I am not being a prude, a Pollyanna, or hoping to have a Utopian society. Merely asking that some of the comments be more closely monitored for the enjoyment of all who would like to participate.
There are certain 4 letter words that I am quite fond of, such as, free, cash, java, love, and even hate when used to make a point.
Those others that we all know and I will not put in print, are not necessary to make a point, and show me a severe lack of vocabulary by the person using them.
I have talked with some of you and know you have intelligence, and you betray that intelligence by resorting to vulgarity. Trying to impress me, please, it does not. I have 3 dictionaries and a thesaurus in my computer room. When the temptation to use a word that is not good for me or the article I am commenting on, I use them. Sometimes in the process I can expand my vocabulary.
I hope that all will enjoy a SPAM free Forums column soon, and will temper their words with the wisdom and intelligence I have seen and know I will in the future.

Sorry I forget that when you double click on this the article comes up twice.
Mr. Russell was notified numerous times about the spam and the "F" word. It took well over a week for them to remove it. As for the forum rules, they obviously do not apply to all. The fact that the "F" word was used in a post that did not contain original thoughts is irrelevant. (My daughter tells me that is a song by Maryilyn Manson) The forum rules state that anyone using vulgar language will not be permitted to post on the forum. I do find it amusing that they did not remove the spam from the post containing the forum rules. In light of the fact that it took so long for someone at the NR to remove the spam and the obvious other violations of the policy, the Forum Rules is the perfect place to post the spam.
God bless you and thanks that you are alright now. be fit and stay happy.
Ha marlyin mason, I wouldn't be caught dead listening to that fag!!!
I know Marilyn Monroe, and Charles Manson. Have no clue who the other one is.
Some nice Gregorian chants would be soothing.
Kat, Could you please work your magic again and get them to remove the spam. Obviously they don't know how to prevent it which I find very odd. You would think that in this day and age they would have at least one tech savvy soul employed at the NR. I know for a fact that other people asked them to remove it but they don't seem to listen to anyone but you.
And I do need to correct an earlier post. My daughter said she thought it "might" be Maryilyn Manson, however it is a song. And Kat you are not missing a thing by not knowing who Maryilyn Manson is. Looking at him alone would scare the you know what out of you. After your recent health scare that is the last thing you need!!!
I will certainly try. They thought I was spama and for 3 days had to do the letter thing. Can't believe after having brought this to their attention they would not moniter it more closely.
I heard a rumor that Marilyn Manson was from Ohio. I'd rather clain Thomas Edison as a native son.
I will be very careful, and am. Thank you for thinking about me.
You are correct that Marilyn Manson is from Ohio, the Akron area, grew up with his grandparents....I read about him when my oldest was teenager and listening to some pretty scary music. I did some research about several bands. Nine Inch Nails lead singer, Trent Riser, is a nephew to one of the teachers from Maplehurst. She told her class that and my then 5th grader, now 23 yrs old, thought that was cool. Both of these guys sing some very disturbing lyrics.
See the kids listening to a different type of music. My mom thought the Beatles were terrible. I made her listen to 5 min of Rap music, then ask her if she still felt the Beatles were so bad??? I can remember her laughing and saying how I had made my point.
Back in the day, and I am old, the Ohio bands were good, and although they did not make it big, we sure danced our toes off to the music. You could actually understand the words, and the music was danceable (maybe not a word, lol).
"I want to Hold your Hand" did not start a sexual revolution, nor did the music disrespect women, or sing about violence. I am sure that someone can cite songs from the 60's and even the 70's that they felt could have. None come to mind. Perhaps Steppenwolf "Born to be Wild". I am very eclectic in my listening, Gregorian Chants to Southern Gospel, and a variety in between.
Big Band music was what I grew up on, with Bagpipes thrown in. I called that Sottish Rap.
Shhhhhhh I still listen to Pat Daley, and Buffet. Janice Joplin, how sad to waste a talent so young. Drugs took their toll back then too, and hate to see the trend as ongoing.
Michael Stanley, Dave James, Ohioans with talent. Crystal Bowersox, she will go far, although I have not seen her perform, I am routing for her, she is an Ohio gal.
Time marches on and my generation gap has widened.

BUMP
What a varied collection of artist...never a dull momment. Some from those era are coming back into vogue. My 23 year old has embraced Jimmi Hendrix, The Grateful Dead, the Beatles!
I am glad to hear your son is doing that. I have lots of vinyl, and listen to that, the sound is not as good as a CD, just brings back the memories of listening in my room, and Mom yelling to turn down my tiny little record player.
"Those were the days my friend" Tell you son he has good taste in music, to explore, and see what is out there. Classical music is very relaxing. His listening journey has just begun, and hopefully will last a lifetime.
does love music. He taught himself to play the guitar, so as he listens to music he is trying to play by ear. That guitar was the best gift for him. Music can be therapy for the soul!
Have a great day, my friend =)!
Hope to see you soon, need to get oiut of the house and have a discussion with someone, or something that does NOT have fur and four legs. The "kits" are a little tired of hearing me rant about "issues", lol.
Can you believe they think I am SPAM, what a hoot.

Good Morning,
The article on Mr. Beachy got me a thinkin, why is there no follow up on so many of the stories that seem to be the "hot" ones in the paper.
I was doing some research and have the following questions, any and all information is appreciated.
1) What happened to the Willard group that was going to have some religious teaching for kids during or after school???
2) How is Calvin doing???
3) Is the Dalton boy in school??? Is the "bounty" still out there to be claimed???
4) What are the Willard athletes up to these days. and how are things in the locker room. Is that Dad still mad????
5) How is the man who hit the tree on Milan Ave.???
6) How is Stephanie Pack doing with her recovery???
7) What did Ms. Lillo name the baby??
8) Are the"bloggers" still in control?? (This one is easy)
9) Is Bill Hood's house still standing????
10) What is up with all the "rapettes" at Edison???
These were some of the most commented on stories, and once gone nary a word was heard again. It is fun to go back and read the old comments on these stories, good for a chuckle, and some insight to the "old school" commenters, or the "clique" as they have been fondly referred to. Many have come and gone, some have left there mark, and continue to do so.
An enquiring mind wants to know, and I am sure someone out there has the answers.
Have a safe and sunshine weekend.

Where do you find the old posts? You make a good point...where are they now and how are they doing?
Scroll down past the Most commented ones to the 6 months or the ones posted in the last year. Think you will find it worth reading and get some REAL insight to the attitude of some of the posters.
We used to have a lot of fun with each other as you will see as you read.
Many have grown tired of the inane blatherings of some and moved on, however you will get the picture.
HAPPY READING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry for the double post.
I appreciate that info. I will check it out. Let's not even address the cheesy one that tries to stir the pot. `
Just do not like mean spirited people, and when they rear their less than attractive head, being an old "street wise woman", the tendency is to have at em.
I am trying to be nice and for me that is a real project, feel I have done a fair job, and will continue to fight for what I believe in.
Have not my head buried in the sand, and seeing all your hard work and the facts you have accumulated, just makes me want to fight that much harder.
I beese good, so youse have a fair field in which to work. OKAY?????

Putting Kat above the Spam. Yeah!
My post to that cheesy name on my forum? Power of the post over spam!
there is an adorable black cat that was rescued last week and taken to the vet for needed care. One of Norwalk's finest residents paid the vet bill and is nursing this lovable, friendly one-year old black cat back to health, but can't keep it due to several other animals.
Is there anyone out there that is looking for a cat to keep you company? He is now spayed and treated for fleas and ear mites.
Norwalk might do well to work with the Humane Society and loosen all those restrictions and regulations so we can deal with our own feral cat issue like our wise neighbors to the north are doing!!! Of course by donations and not out of tax-payers dollars.
I agree, and I hope a good home if found for the cat. I am not in a position to take another cat. If I had the room and the finances their would be a "cattery" here.
I have saked the Humane Society about this and as their space is limited and the need right now is so great, it is impossible for them to take all the cats that need homes.
As I type this the cat that I got at the Humane Society is helping me, adopting an older cat I can say they are a joy, and all the tuff stuff was done, potty training, behavior modification, etc. I encourage all to adopt and consider an older cat.
Anybody else want a cat?
Good Morning,
Several events of the last week have caused me to take a trip down Memory Lane, some sad, and some laden with wonderful memories.
As I am growing older, and these events happen, I tend to want to share and know that some of you will have some memories of your own about them.
1) The Memorial for Ike Liedorff at the Lefty Grove Field. I was unable to attend, which saddened me greatly, as Ike gave so much to this proogram. He did it with the same enthusiasm, and caring for others as he did most everything that touched his heart.
I grew up living next door to the Liedorff family, they were a blessing in our lives, and were life long friend to my family. When my parents wintered in Florida, seeing Ike and Lois was a high priority on their list of things to do. Ike was the one who handed my Mom the flag off my Dad's casket, and did so with tears in his eyes. What a fitting tribute to a life long friendship, and the caring that was such a part of the man Ike was. I was blessed to spend some time with Ike just before he died, and we got to talk about so many things. His love for Norwalk, and the direction it is taking, the times spent on the Vogt family farm where I learned to plant "taters". Too many memories to mention, and the scrapbook in my heart will always have them for the Liedorff family.
2) The tearing down of Memorial Hospital in Sandusky, WOW this one is flooded with memories. I worked and put myself through nursing school there. Worked in Central Supply, back when thing were not disposable and everything was autoclaved. All units were stocked by this dept. and it was a busy dept. Made wonderful friends, and learned much that would serve me well as I entered nursing school. Made $1.00 an hour, and got a raise to the grand rate of $1.10 just before I left to go to school. After graduation, I went back as a LPN, making the grand sum of $2.03 an hour. The Doctors and all the staff were very kind to this "greenie" nurse, and they taught me well. Today I still occasionally run into someone from the "old days" at Memorial, and so many of those with whom I shared such fond memories have left us.
The halls of that institution will echo with the lives saved and those who have gone before. The laughter, and the tears, they had such an impact on my life. Rest in Peace old gal. I will think of you often and fondly.
3) Yoko Ono speaking at Oberlin. Ahhhhhh my memories of the Beatles. Saw them live in 1964 in Cincinnati. We were 3rd row behind the Press, and to say chaos reigned is an understatement. One of my friends got her toe broken by a crazed jumping fan. We yelled at Paul, he talked to us for a few minutes, and thrilled us. We were not the same for weeks, maybe months as Beatlemania was sweeping the country. I still listen to them and am assailed with the memories of that day long ago.
I was a George fan, and not sure of the title of the song, it has something to to do with "my guitar sweetly sings", if anyone knows the title or where I can find a CD with that song on it, please share that info, I would be grateful.
My stroll down Memory lane is coming to an end. There are so many events that send me on that journey, and as I age they become too frequent. The memories that are not pleasant have faded and the good ones seem to be the ones I recall. Do you find that is true in your lives as well.
Have a great day, and hope that your stroll down Memory Lane bring a smile to your heart, and if the tears come as I am sure they wiil, they are those of joy for you.

"While my Guitar Gently Weeps"
I look at you all see the love there that's sleeping
While my guitar gently weeps
I look at the floor and I see it need sweeping
Still my guitar gently weeps
I don't know why nobody told you
how to unfold you love
I don't know how someone controlled you
they bought and sold you
I look at the world and I notice it's turning
While my guitar gently weeps
With every mistake we must surely be learning
Still my guitar gently weeps
I don't know how you were diverted
you were perverted too
I don't know how you were inverted
no one alerted you
I look at you all see the love there that's sleeping
While my guitar gently weeps
I look at you all
Still my guitar gently weeps
Oh, oh, oh
oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
oh oh, oh oh, oh oh
Yeah yeah yeah yeah
yeah yeah yeah yeah
I believe it was on The Beatles "The White Album" circa 1968.
Good song!!
And John was my favorite ;)
Thanx for the words, and the info. I thought that really displayed the talents of George Harrison that sometimes were overlooked. I will see if I can find the CD. It is one of my favorites. I also like "No Where Man".
They had so many that were good and such a variety in musical style.
I could sit here and talk about music and books all day/night.
Far better than the balderdash over on the comments column.
That gets so boring and is childish at best.
Again Thank you

funny you say that, I was watching the ION channel for a couple of hours of relaxation and distraction from the day. A paid ad for Music from the 80's came on, instead of turning it off to come and check out what is going on in cyberspace, I was captivated to watch and listen to those songs that I spent hours enjoying many years ago. REO Speedwagon, Journey, Styx, Heart, Rod Stewart, Cher and the list goes on and on. Not that I was going to pick up the phone and order(4 payments of $29), but it was fun for a few minutes to reflect back.
I agree, the balderdash is not worth my time and effort!
Good Morning,
I usually start my day with a large cup of French Roast coffee, while reading the comments. As all know I have contributed my fair share to the fun and frivolity. There comes a time when one has to decide what is fun, and what is hurtful.
I am no "goody 2 shoes", and when the attack is directed at me personally, I will fight back. I cannot and will not make comments about those who are unfortunate enough to have their pictures on the front page for whatever reason(mostly criminal).
I would be the first in line to say that my bodily imperfections are many, some or most I cannot correct at this time, it is who I am, and you can take that or leave it. Does not matter to me.
Even as an adult, I am not above hurting when certain things are said, I can temper my reaction with wisdom, however being human I still feel pain.
When I prayed for those two women that are being ripped to shreds for their appearance, I simply said "There but for the Grace of God go I", and "Forgive them Father for they know not what they do" when praying for those who need to be unkind.
One would want to believe in these difficult times that kindness would prevail, everyone has a struggle and not everyone can handle it, perhaps their reaction to the stresses of life is not the one that is their normal reaction. Haven't we all gotten mad or disgruntled and said things that we normally would not say. I have threatened to kill my cats on more than one occasion, and if they could use the phone, my picture would be on the front page of the Reflector for some to criticize.
Life is not easy, and making it more difficult for those who are having a struggle, by the nasty and unkind comments---WELL.
Having had to in the past use the food banks, I find that the food is a lot of Pasta, and things that tend to put on weight. Also buying inexpensive foods, this is also the case. Not everyone has the luxury of eating food that are the best for their bodies.
As we age we get wrinkles, and to malign someone who has not aged as gracefully as some feel she should have, send her a case of OIL of OLAY, that would be the kind thing to do. To the person is overweight perhaps some recipe for healthy eating. Understand that this is not going to happen as these folks are obviously not the kind of people whom you would choose to be kind to. Just examples of what one might do for a friend, or someone you know has life's struggles.
Strangers are friends we haven't met yet. Nice matters.
Have a wonderful day and enjoy the sunshine.

Having often sat at my computer and offered my opinion on an article or situation, not to infer that I have the perfect solution. Just being part of the discussion, and giving some insight by my humble comments.
Never would I infer that I am "all knowing" on any topic, for alas the opposite is true. To those who substantiate their information with facts and cite the source by using links that is helpful. Guilty, I do not always look up the information provided.
It is difficult to get the proper emotion in the written comments and reading many different things into each comment. Some come across as mean spirited, not meaning to be. Others incite that in others for reasons unknown. Some use humor, well defined and absolutely hilarious. Making obvious the nature of the writer, and clearly seen for all.
Comments draw responses, just the nature of the "beast", and while not meant to harm, or be overtly critical, they often incite the wrath of others.
I do not intend to be too Pollyanna here, just see so much anger and discontent, perhaps with life, or another person. Hitting the keyboard in that anger becomes all to clear. Then the perception is that THEY are being maligned in some fashion, when if a reality check and a re-reading of comments written would give them a clue as to where the whole thing started.
I do like the Sandusky Register and their system for monitoring the comments, makes on think when commenting, as to avoid the shame of being deleted for whatever reason.
To the new posters, the clique refers to a group who were late night posters, picking an article that was just not drawing lots of comment, and then used it for a "chat room" of sorts. Never was anyone excluded, nor are they today. Some were offended as they felt the comments were less than beneficial to their way of thinking. MW, DD. Sass, TCN, to name a few, gave it out and got it back in full measure, we could laugh about it and do today.
So if I have offended you with my sharing of what is my life, so be it, my life is what it is, out there for the world. So as I continue to post and share my world, take it as honesty and the life of a humble poster.
Blessings to all-----AND KEEP POSTING.
